About Taalcentrum Kookoovaja

Kookoovaja’s goal is to provide effective language courses with a strong personal approach. This personal approach results in small classes, immediate feedback and a strong bond between students and teacher. Kookoovaja loves multilingualism and thrives in the variation in language learning among students. All Kookoovaja teachers are native speakers and have a passion for sharing their culture.

Kookoovaja was established in 2014 as an initiative of Samantha. The goal was to provide Greek people who live in the Netherlands high quality Dutch courses designed for the specific needs of Greek native speakers.

In the beginning of 2015 Vasso joined the team and since then offers Modern Greek language lessons for Dutch and international people. A success that was extended with English for academic purposes at the end of that same year.

From 2017 Kookoovaja expanded the team with language teachers who share our philosophy of language teaching and learning.

What's in a name?

Kookoovaja, or κουκουβάγια, is the Greek word for owl. The owl is an ancient symbol for wisdom. Speaking multiple languages makes you more open-minded and able to move easily within different cultures. It is also a work-out for the brain, since it improves memory, problem-solving and multi-tasking. In short multilingualism is wisdom!
