Sunday Session Greek – Explore Allard Pierson Museum’s Greek collection

Step into the world of Ancient Greece with us at the Allard Pierson Museum!

Danae Papageorgiou (philologist and museum lover) has designed this guided tour and interactive session, which will take you through fascinating Greek artifacts, from beautifully painted vases to striking sculptures and intriguing inscriptions.

Together, we’ll explore how everyday objects tell stories about ancient life, war, and mythology. You’ll try to decipher ancient inscriptions, discuss the ideals of beauty in Greek sculpture, and reflect on the role of art in society—then and now. Expect engaging discussions, hands-on activities, and plenty of inspiration!

What to expect?
• A tour through the museum’s Greek collection
• Interactive activities: spot symbols on pottery, decode inscriptions, and discuss classical ideals
• Thought-provoking discussions: Who owns history? How does ancient art shape our world today?
• Free time to explore the museum and shop
