Hard work & fun, that’s my motto. A class needs a good laugh as much as it needs clear educational targets. With a little music every now and then. The truth is, I can’t do without music.
I had been working as an accountant/controller for more than 2 decades, when I decided to switch to the profession of teacher of Dutch as a Second Language, about 10 years ago. One of the best decisions in my life, without any doubt.
I find it very enjoyable to teach my mother tongue to all kinds of people. I have been teaching illiterate people, PhD students and every type of student in between. Refugees, expats, economical immigrants, etc. The students and I have been working together to achieve A1, A2, B1 and B2 levels.
I studied accountancy, commercial Spanish and Spanish translation. Furthermore, I qualified for teaching Dutch. At present, I am learning Arab and Greek, both for private and professional purpose: I was very eager to learn the Arabic and Greek scripts and I have a Syrian friend and a Greek neighbour.
I have worked and still am working for different language schools. Among them are the Dutch Center for Foreigners (Nederlands Centrum voor Buitenlanders, NCB), NLeducation (NLeducatie, NLE) and Global Language Training (GLT).
