Is it for me?
This course is intended for students who require support with academic papers and presentations in English. It is suitable for individuals at various stages of their academic trajectory, including bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students.
What will I learn?
The course is designed to be responsive to the needs and questions of its participants, enabling students to learn both individually and collaboratively. During the four group sessions, we will address core academic skills, including:
- conventions of academic writing and essay structure
- critical analysis of scholarly texts
- development of theoretical argumentation
- organization and coherence in academic papers
- additional topics based on students’ expressed needs
The four individual tutorials provide tailored guidance, allowing you to apply the techniques introduced in the group lessons and to work on specific academic challenges or areas requiring improvement.
Course Schedule
The course alternates weekly between two‑hour group classes and one‑hour individual tutorials. Group lessons consist of 3–4 participants, while individual tutorials are scheduled according to each student’s availability.
The course schedule aligns with the Utrecht University academic calendar, enabling us to support both ongoing and upcoming academic projects and to promote sustained academic development.
We offer this course in the evenings from 17:15–19:15 or 19:30–21:30. The exact day and time are determined before each block based on the students’ availability.
On-line or in person?
Our courses generally take place in person at our location in Utrecht. However, online or hybrid classes are also possible. During the application process, you can indicate your preference. After applying and taking a level test, we schedule a free intake to discuss your goals and assess your speaking level. During that conversation, you can ask any remaining questions you may have.
